2.09.13 More success for Wolfgang Kaufmann and Kremer Racing

The 6h Ruhr-Pokal Rennen at the Nürburgring is one of the two season highlights at the Nordschleife, along with the 24 Hours.

For this event, Eberhard Baunach's team Kremer Racing moved its Porsche 997 KR over to a different class. “Our car is a 2010 Cup Porsche that has been continuously developed by the team to be competitive in the SP7 class. Sadly, we have had to compete with works developed 997 GT3 R recently, and have therefore decided to switch to the SP8 class.” The rulebook puts such GT3 cars in the SP9 class.

Qualifying offered an unpleasant surprise for Wolfgang Kaufmann following a time of 8:27,005 min. in his first attempt, he wanted to go for another fast lap around the Nordschleife. “At the fast Tiergarten/Antoniusbuche section, I had a tyre blow up. I am glad that I didn't hit anything at that speed!” The team did immaculate work and put the car on the starting grid in time, all traces of damage removed.

Kaufmann started the race with a double stint and then handed the controls to Peter Posavac. For the final double stint, with rain setting in, Kaufmann was again behind the wheel. The team sent him out with rain tyres, and the German professional brought home a 2nd place in the SP8 class, 10th position in the overall result.

I am very proud about this good finish in SP8, and outright. Team Porsche Kremer Racing has done sterling work with its self-developed and perfectly prepared car. I am already looking forward to the next VLN round at the Nordschleife on September 14.”
