7.01.13 Sunny outlook for Kaufmann
On the second weekend of January, and in summery temperatures, the eighth edition of the 24 hour race of Dubai will go ahead in the United Arab Emirates.
For the GT and sportscar ace Wolfgang Kaufmann, it will be the sixth time at the 24h race in the metropolis at the Persian Gulf.
The professional from Westerwald will drive the #89 Audi TT RS of Team Besaplast Racing, entered by Martin Tschornia, Franjo Kovac and their crew.
“I am very much looking forward to my sixth 24 hour race in Dubai, and I am very motivated. Our goal is to win our class, and be as high up the overall order as possible”, says Kaufmann.
“The TT RS is perfectly prepared for the 24 hours of racing in the desert, and in conjunction with our good and balanced combination of drivers this is a good basis for a successful 24hr race.”
Unusual for Kaufmann is his choice of vehicle: “My last drive in a front wheel driven racecar was with the blue factory VW Scirocco, in the 2009 24hrs at the Nürburgring. I have never raced an Audi, but I am sure that we have a top class vehicle with great performance.”
But Kaufmann knows: to finish first, first you have to finish.
