Saturday morning qualifying started in temperatures that were way too low for the time of year, while everyone had still enjoyed almost spring-like weather during Friday's free practice sessions.

All three drivers of the Kremer Racing 997 GT3 KR, Wolfgang Kaufmann along with Dieter Schornstein and Peter Posavac, did their practice laps in cool conditions.

“There was no way of going for a quick time for a good grid position, we wanted to adjust our car to the track conditions as they had changed overnight”, Wolfgang Kaufmann explains the team's tactics in qualifying.

Peter Posavac took the start for the 4hr race, and handed the Porsche over to Wolfgang Kaufmann at the planned middle stint. Sadly, the race on a drying track was not to last much longer for the Porsche Kremer driver. “At the Hocheichen section, I noticed a slow puncture on the left rear tyre. At Metzgesfeld, I parked the Porsche. Our main goal this year is once again the Nürburgring 24hr race, and the drive back to the pits on a disintegrating tyre would have caused major, unnecessary damage”, Kaufmann said after the race.

A more positive result waited for Kaufmann on Sunday, when he competed at the Hockenheimring together with Dieter Dörmann. They ended their 1hr race with the Ford Escort 1600 DBA in 4th place overall.
