Oschersleben 2008 had seen the GT specialist guesting in the European Superkart Series. This time around, he drove one of Willi Pfeifer Racing's karts, capable of top speeds around 280kph, on the Hockenheim Grand Prix track: "Thundering around the track with these rockets, so close to the surface, was really 'geil'! Since I couldn't take part in qualifying, I had to start both races from the rear", Kaufmann describes the situation going into the event. Because of this unfavourable grid position, Kaufmann had to go into full attack mode and work his way up through the field until a broken chain on the run up to the hairpin ended his Saturday race.

An extra performance followed in the second heat on Sunday: after some precipitaiton, the stewards declared it a "Wet Race". With the fastest race lap in his first Superkart drive in the rain, Kaufmann got up to third place.

"The gear ratio was somewhat too long, so I always lost out big time on acceleration out of the 1st gear hairpin when the revs of the two stroke engine dropped off too much. Without this problem, I would have had a shot at winning the race", the ever-ambitious Piranha said.

"But this drive in an ideally prepared Superkart war a lot of fun. Thanks to Willi Pfeifer and the team, to Jochen, Carmen, Willi, and our partners for this opportunity! I wouldn't mind driving a Superkart again in the future..."
